Note: If there are spelling mistakes on the post, kindly correct me. I have to admit, I was a bit lazy to do a lookup on the correct spelling of places. Thanks. Oh my laziness is justified, been sleeping at 3 am only to wake up at 8 am to go to school and no it’s not about partying…nay….much more solemn..yeah freaking assignments!

This post by the Star is interesting. Malaysia may be one of the few countries in the world to have a Hotel cum Medical Facility. It means you can get medical treatment and at the same time have your relatives(or even you) to stay at the adjoining 3 star Hotel. The best part is that this new concept is run based on Islamic principles. The Director of the hospital has assured that non muslims would be accepted into the hospital and would be treated as any other normal hospital patients.

Hmm…really interesting development. In a way, such development is good as it enables people who are particular about their beliefs to be treated according to their customs. And it would no doubt cement Malaysia’s position as a champion among Islamic countries. I hope they don’t abandon their hipprocratic oath and start discharging their duties dicriminately.

A good development for Malaysia, nevertheless this kind of enterpreneul spirit is definitely lacking at home. So what’s next ? A health package that follows the Hindu principles (actually we already have it, it’s called Ayurveda) , Buddhist principles ? or a combination of health, recreation and pilgrimage(If you’re hindu; to South India, for muslims ; to perform Haj and if you’re a Christian; to Bettlehem (sp) or Jerusalem) ?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for alternative medicine. Modern medical science is still not able to cure all the worlds diseases despite undergoing tremendous advancements over the past 100 years. Alternative medicine with collective knowledge that predates modern medical knowledge is still viable today and will still be for many many more moons(or possibly eons) more to come.
