Handshake…Apparently it can bring you to loftier heights.

Handshake….when I was younger, I used to have a firm handshake. I did it because I wanted people to look at me as a responsible young man and not dismiss me just because of my youth. So I started practising it among people that I know. Like whenever I say high I’d just extend my hand to shake. I would then grip the hand firmly and shake it. The first few times were not really poised…but later I sort of perfected it. These days, I do it but not regularly. Most people now are content with a softly softly handshake. I used to not discriminate when I hand shake. Guy or girl, they will get the unmistakable Suresh Jeyaverasingam handshake. So much so that people associated a firm handshake with me one time. Remember, I started this because people including my relatives were not taking me seriously. Now it’s starting to change but I doubt its because of my handshake…I think it got to do more with my illustrious age. You see…according to people I’ve obtained the illustrious key of life…yeah…the mythical grandeur and so called significance of reaching 21 years of age.

When I was young, when ever I talk people sort of tune off. So I only talked when its necessary. And then people ask me why I’m quiet! Go Figure! But no, I’m not complaining because people are not listening to me. I’m actually glad it turned out that way because it allowed me to analyse people and their behaviour. NOt that I love doing personality analisis but when you’re not taken seriously..what do you do…well either you mope about it or you learn from it. I decided to do the latter. Quietness has its moments you know. Sometimes it is nice to just be alone even when you’re surrounded by people you know. And ofcourse sometimes, it’s frustrating not to be able to converse with people. Ah…BunnyWuny what you mentioned in one of your posts about trying to get closer with the ‘elites’ of the school is so true. I did try too at one time and yeah it was an exercise in futility. Perhaps they think that they’re too good for me well I like to think it this way…Perhaps those guys are not my ‘class’. Hey..If arrogance can be in them..why can’t it be in me. And I’ve found tons of worthy people to be friends with. Like the guy who may seem to be a misfit because of the way he dress or the way he goes against authority(I was a prefect that time) turned out to be a person worth knowing. He tells it the way it is and ofcourse sort of mellowed when he too got to know me better. Ahh…yeah some good moments did arise from my secondary school days although generally my experience in secondary school was not something I like.

Ohh and the post about the handshake. You can find it here. Very interesting piece but honestly I think that guy went over the top. Either its an American thing to exaggerate or he really has a ‘divine’ gift.

  4. BunnyWunny: Hey Welcome back :-) …Okay, I take that as a compliment. I do also look far mature for my age. Most people think I’m 23/ 24-ish when infact I’m a very youthful 21…hahahaa….

Centerpide: Hey, welcome back :-) . Well I still hope people will take me seriously. It’s an ongoing process oh well…I guess that day will come.
